The tones are presented to one ear at a time through a pair of comfortable headphones. The quick test allows folks to compare their hearing against a known standard. The test takes about 30 seconds, so a person can run the test several times to get a good feel for the condition of their hearing. The ease and speed of the testing, along with the fact that the patient controls their own testing lessens the possible anxiety that one might feel when submitting to a more traditional hearing test.
